Sentry Pigeon Review

While I was doing a scouting trip in Brisbane, Aussie, some of my sites were hacked. There was not much I could do as I had limited internet access and my main coder had taken a well deserved break. I am not one to freak out about stuff, so I just carried on and did not think about it (I mean what kind of help is worrying going to give you?). Actually, I am a little embarrassed to tell you how they got in to my sites. I will blame it on one of my coders. He left a huge gaping hole in having a site with both username and passwords being named as admin (what was he thinking!?).

You probably have already received quite a few emails already about, Chris Munch’s, Sentry Pigeon. He was not giving out review copies before the launch, so I could not tell you if was useful or not. Why promote it if it has already been promoted by heaps of others? Because the vast majority of affiliates don’t even look at the product. So, they are just going by reputation and by how much money they can make. I know this from my own launches.

I have taking a look at it now and it is good info and they have walkthrough videos of all of the steps. The problem is that like ¾ of the videos don’t seem to have any sound (unless it is just me). I am sure they will have that fixed soon. It doesn’t matter to me as I am going to outsource all of this, ha! This has to be the most comprehensive security courses I have seen. It seems to be very indepth and a well thought out.

There is a OTO WP plugin, which I have not brought yet, but looks pretty good (I tend to bypass OTOs to check out the product first). For some reason you have to check out the OTO twice (you will see what I mean).

I still do not know the full extent of what the hackers did to my sites. Luckily none of these sites are money making ones. I consider myself pretty fortunate not to have one of these nightmarish situations where you are banned from Google and other places (you can read about it in the sales thread). But this could of so easily happened to me. Scary stuff!

This has happened to me before. I mean I was hacked a couple of years ago (Why didn’t I learn from that one? I had just forgotten the pain involved, I guess). If you don’t have protection, it is just going to be a matter of time before you will get hacked. You don’t have to use this system, but make sure you use something (I am preaching to myself here. I need a good kick up the backside). As they say in my country, “Do it once, do it right!” (or something like that)

Doc Presser Review

Below is the Doc Presser WordPress Plugin:

The plugin auto creates a WordPress post or page into a PDf document and then submits it to document sharing sites with optional additional info included. It also returns the URLs that point to the new documents in the admin area.

Keyword Blaze Software Review

There is an software that is sort of similar to Market Samurai, but not as slow.

http://marketervoice.com/KeywordBlazeWSO

I really like some of the extra features that they have put in like the top 10 analysis and the social statistics. It also filters buyer keywords and longtail keywords with a high CPC. The last filter is the Winners one, which I guess they are saying that it is a sure thing (if that were possible). I did not get a Winner one on my search so I will have to keep digging to find it. They also can track your domains performance in the search engines. That is just the stuff that is different to other Keyword tools. Of course it has a lot of the same core functions as others.

The thing is do you really need another stinking Keyword tool? If you haven’t got a good one, get this. I would say it would probably be the best I have seen and the price is nice. If you already have a few tools check out the specs to see if it covers what you already have.

It looks as if they have spent a lot of time and money on this thing, so I don’t think they are going to run away real quick and ditch this project. It is starting out at $17 and the price is going to go up after a few hours. So, you have a wee bit of time to decide if you want it at the lowest price.

Page One Curator Review

http://marketervoice.com/PageOneCurator

This Curation thing is the new “in” thing at the moment. I haven’t really tried it as it has seemed like too hard to keep on top of.

The software is built with Adobe Air, so you can use it on a PC or Mac. Who uses a Mac? You guys have been sucked in with all the advertising, I can tell you. Okay, maybe I am wrong, it is known to happen from time to time. But in this case, I doubt it.

This software reminds me of an autoblogging software that I had brought a year or so ago. It has some similar functions. That was a $97 software. I think I got it for $67.

Things have changed quite a bit since I started trying to make sites. I think the pure autoblogging model is just about dead. Don’t quote me on that one, but I am sure it will just be a matter of time. People are becoming pickier and pickier at what they see. No one wants to see spun junk posts and they certainly aren’t going to click on your stinking ads. We need to start to think about authority sites. In that I don’t mean mega sites. I just mean sites that show you as an authority that people will want to come back to again and again. The best time conscious method for this is curation.

To be honest, I am not sure if I will use this method myself. It is not part of my business model at the moment. I will have to see if I have the time.

Here is what I did not like about the software. It returned some strange results for keywords that I typed in. I am not sure why and surely it would be an easy fix, but I had to filter again to get the content I wanted. Not too major though.

What I like is that it really looks like a quality piece of software. That is pretty shallow, but most people like looking at nice things, so give me a break!
It just seems as though it is well thought out by people who actually use curation as a method. If I were to build it, I would probably have some clumsy functions that never got used, because I don’t use the curation method.
You can also control many blogs from the one software. Nice!
The other thing I like is that you are provided with a big list of feeds to use to find your content, which is great. You can search articles and videos, Images and Twitter feeds.

So, if you are considering getting into curation, then this software will probably suit you to a “T”. And for around $20, it is a slick piece of work.

The Press Pipes Debacle

The Press Pipes Debacle

I have to admit I am a bit stupid. In my excitement to inform you of Link Automatic, I made it sound as if it was going to replace Press Pipes with the new plugin, Link Automatic. It was bad terminology and not very well thought through.

I have received a couple of emails from people calling me unethical for charging for the new plugin as it is seen as a replacement for Press Pipes. I really did this to myself by using words like “replacement” for the original. While it is only a couple of people that have emailed me to say that, it makes me think that others out there are thinking that I am a crook. That hurts, when I am trying to be anything but unethical.

Let me try to explain what has gone on previously:
Press Pipes was based around one website, Pixelpipe. Pixelpipe decided to close down the way we could access it. That is the end of the products life. It happens. If someone put out a SEO plugin which did not work after a few months because of changes of the Google algorithm, should they provide a refund. That is beyond their control and something they did not anticipate. They have done all that hard work and everyone has lost out. I have brought my fair share of things that did not work after a certain time. I decided to provide a full replacement for Press Pipes. It was a method and a plugin. I did not have to but I wanted to. It cost a fair amount of money and time. How many would have done that?

If you have not received those products, I can provide a link to them for you. They are still fully supported and it provides the same sort of benefits Press Pipes achieved, even better in some cases. We can look at adding some other features in the future.

Yes, Link Automatic is similar in its goals to get backlinks to your site and some of the sites it utilized. But that is it. Press Pipes was based around the one site and you could not control many elements in it at all. Link Automatic has over 30 separate sites and you have many function controls. Press Pipes would never have become this plugin because it was based around 1 site.

A lot of people also came through affiliate sales. Those affiliates received the money for that. Do I refund money I never received? I did not put a stipulation on that with the rebate.

Do you still think I am unethical? I mean, I see that every day in emails that I get from IMers, but do you really lump me in with them?

You might want to say something to me or to everyone, so I am going to do this. I will put this up on my blog and you can comment on it. Whatever you want to say, go ahead and say it.
